I build and look after websites for people who have a business to run.
I am Luis Guerra, a WordPress and Elementor developer based in Hillsborough, New Jersey. I build responsive, user-friendly websites for small businesses and service-based companies, and I keep them running after launch.
How I got here
I came to development through structured self-teaching rather than a computer science degree. I completed the Front-End Engineering certificate at Codecademy between 2023 and 2024, covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, and version control, then moved into CMS-focused coursework through CodingPhase to go deeper on WordPress.
My first production-scale work came on contract at DealerOn in early 2025. I built and launched more than fifty client websites on a proprietary CMS, running upwards of fifteen projects at once and doing quality-assurance passes against manufacturer and regulatory compliance requirements. Working at that volume, under those constraints, taught me more about consistency, checklists, and shipping on schedule than any single project could have.
In September 2025 I founded Maxella Web Designs so I could take on client work directly, own the whole process, and build the kind of sites I thought local businesses actually needed.
How I work with small businesses
Most of my clients are contractors and service businesses. They are not looking for an award-winning website. They want the phone to ring, and they want to be able to change their own hours without calling someone.
So I start with what the business actually needs the site to do, then build the smallest thing that does it well. I use WordPress and Elementor because they let me hand over a site the owner can maintain. I structure pages around local search from the start rather than bolting SEO on later. And I stay available after launch, because a website that nobody updates stops working within a year.
I work in English and Spanish, which matters more than people expect in Central New Jersey.

What I am looking for
I am open to WordPress development roles where I can contribute the technical experience and client-facing habits I have built running Maxella, and keep growing as a developer on a team.
Running an agency has meant owning every part of the lifecycle: scoping, quoting, design, build, launch, hosting, maintenance, and the awkward conversations. I would like to bring that to a team where I am not the only person in the room.
